I engage selectively, typically in situations where the stakes are high enough that diagnostic judgment and decision quality matter more than additional analysis.
Situations Where I Engage
Performance under pressure. A major programme is failing. Capital is at risk. The board needs an independent operator who can diagnose the real constraint and make irreversible decisions — not another review.
Strategy-execution gap. The strategy is sound but nothing is moving. Multiple units, regions, or functions are producing coordination costs instead of outcomes. The operating model needs structural redesign.
Growth that isn’t compounding. Innovation is active but not converting to economic value. Vendor relationships are uncontested. Capital is deployed linearly when it should be deployed asymmetrically. The organization needs a growth engine, not a growth initiative.
Founder-led scaling. A CEO or founder needs a peer-level sounding board — someone who improves decision quality without creating a second power centre. Governance adapted to the founder’s operating style, not imposed from a corporate template.
How I Typically Engage
Rapid diagnostics: 2–4 weeks. Structured stakeholder interviews, fact-base construction, root-cause reframing. Deliverable: a diagnostic that names the real constraint and proposes the intervention architecture.
Control interventions: 3–6 months. Governance reset, scope discipline, architectural correction. Typically in crisis or near-crisis situations.
Coherence programmes: 6–12 months. Operating model design, strategic alignment, decision architecture redesign. Multi-phase, often involving team assembly.
Compounding engines: 12–18 months. Innovation operating model design, vendor leverage, capital discipline institutionalization. The longest engagements, because building repeatable systems takes time.
Confidentiality
